Wednesday, August 26, 2014 It is devastating to those still living when someone passes on, whether through a natural death or a suicide. If a suicide, people are left to wonder what went wrong for that person and if they could have helped, and in any death, people are filled with regret for never telling the person how they really felt about them. So, do yourself (and that person) a favor, and tell people how you feel. Remind them that you value their friendship. Reminisce about fun times from the past. Make plans for the future. Check in with them even with just a "hello." Spend time with people; truly listen to them. We never know when it will be the last time we see someone. I am deeply saddened tonight to learn of a second death in my community -- the first being a former teacher (who positively impacted many students throughout her career) who unexpectedly passed on Sunday night and the second being a student I got to know a bit through subbing at the schools who is gone too soon. My thoughts are with their family and friends.
